Social Media Policy
I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (such as Facebook or LinkedIn). Please do not be offended by this practice. Adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise the client’s confidentiality and privacy, and it may also blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. This policy is for your protection.
Email/Texting Privacy Policy
For your protection, I do not send any substantive email communications to my clients. Although my computer is password protected and encrypted, I cannot guarantee the confidentiality of email communications. With email communications, there is always some chance that a third party may be able to intercept and eavesdrop on those messages. These potential interceptions might include: people in your home or other environments who can access your phone, computer, or other devices that you use to read and write messages; your employer or co-workers; and/or third parties on the Internet, such as server administrators and others who monitor Internet traffic.
If you have a matter that cannot wait until your next scheduled appointment, please email or call me and let know if you would like to schedule a phone consultation (which will be billed at the same rates as an in-office session, although phone consultations that are under 5 minutes will not be billed), or if you would like to schedule an additional in-office session before your next regularly scheduled session. If you choose to communicate confidential information via email, I will assume that you have made an informed decision and we will view it as your agreement to take the risk that your email may be intercepted.
This same policy applies to cell phone texting. Although my cell phone is password protected, it is not encrypted and will only be used, if at all, for scheduling issues. Again, if you choose to communicate confidential information with me via text, I will assume that you have made an informed decision and will view it as your agreement to take the risk that your text may be intercepted.
